What Moving is REALLY Like

If you're in the middle of moving right now, or if you have ever moved before, you know what I'm talking about.

Exhaustion- Literally just putting my hair up in a braid these past few weeks has been enough to make me want to go to bedddd.

Getting Rid of Stuffs - What-ho, I am a minimalist now. Not by choice, mind you. To be honest, though, this part of moving is the least bother-some to me. I actually love getting rid of lots of useless junk.

No Time For Plans- There is no time to plan anything, therefore, there are almost no fun outings. I did go to an immensely enjoyable fundraiser a few weeks ago, and then a dance, but the dance left me awfully tired- so I thought, what's the point anyways.

The Hurry and Rush- When you are having to fix up your house and get your stuff organized on a time limit, there is constant unpleasant feeling of "crunch time", which begins to wear on your good spirits after awhile.

No Weekend Fun Times- Weekends are not fun like they should be, because they're the only time that most people are available to come and help you with your house, which means you have to work too. Weekend after weekend after weekend.

Nothing is Where it Belongs- All of my craft/hobby supplies and recreational activities are in storage; which means I haven't been able to simply do my makeup for like a month. Even my camera is nowhere to be found, so hopefully it's in storage as well; but until I find it I have to rely entirely on Pinterest to make my posts beautiful...*sigh*. Thank you, Pinterest, old friend *hugs pinterest*.

The Constant Smell of Paint- Or glue, or caulk, or soil (they had to do some digging in our basement so our house smelled like moldy dirt for one week straight)... lots of smells. Also wet walls. Everywhere.

~*~

Yes, I've used this pic in a post before... but Imma use it again cause I love it.
It's not all this depressing, though.
Other than packing boxes and moving junk everywhere, things look quite nice. All of the painting is almost done. Our basement looks nicer than I think it ever did, my room is white as snow (and quite plain, but that's making it look really lovely somehow), our yard looks great thanks to some friends from our church who helped clean it up, our bathrooms are bleached to perfection.
All I can think of is how proud Adrian Monk would be of our bathrooms. He might even go inside them.

I'm sorry for the rather depressed random-ness of this post. This is the first time I've ever moved (well, the last time my family moved was when I was only a year old, so technically I don't remember it, and technically I was too young to help, so technically this is the first time I've moved), and when I look back at this time, I want to remember what it was like.

I want to remember what God taught me through this.
  • That owning things isn't all there is to life.
  • That I can trust Him through the unknown.
  • That hard times can have fun times mixed in.
  • That change is inevitable, but He can make it a good thing.
    And most importantly:
Times will change, but He will not.

Also, on a separate note, I've got some exciting personal news; I have been saving (for like 6 months) for something special, and I think I will be able to afford it about two weeks from now! What COULD I be referring to?! *sly wink* I will reveal that in my March Highlights post. ;)

Until then, enjoy the change into Spring!
And thank you for letting me ramble... about life, and whatnot.  *shrug* Ya know how it is.
(Especially you, Natalie. *wink*)

  1. Oh, wow! You're right on. I didn't know this was "your first" move though. Good for you! I think you're handling it well.

    Adrian Monk, hahaha.

Do you have a new house picked out? Or are you selling your house first?

You are such a tease! How long must I wait for your March Highlight post now? *sigh* ;D

As for me, I still have most of my things lost in boxes so I can't find anything either. *whispering* That's right, I moved too. I think there's something in the air, it's like everyone's moving right now! Hahaha.

    Good luck!!

Yep. It's my first move. So it's allll new to me...
Thank you! I'm trying. *puts on tough face*

We actually do not have a new house picked out yet. We are thinking of doing either a condo or villa, but a house might suit as well. Right now, we're just working on last minute touch-ups on the house we're currently in. We hope to be moved entirely by mid April (hence the time crunch).

I should have a March Highlights post up by early April. Hang tight, dear. :)

Aaggh having stuff lost in boxes! Since we haven't technically moved to the new place yet, I have not reached that stage. But I guess I know what to look forward to now. :)

Yes... why is everyone moving? Kinda strange. :)

  2. I haven't moved since I was six except for moving back and forth for college, and even that was stressful. I can't imagine if my family up and moved anytime soon the chaos that would have to happen (not to mention we would probably need a dumpster because my family is a family of pack rats).

I hope your move goes smoothly!!

For sure moving is stressful and a whole lot of work. But it's coming along. :)
(My family is among the junk collecting kind as well. :))
      Thank you!

  3. Ahh, yes moving, we did that once! We moved cross country about eight years ago and I was 10 or so, so I feel you dear! For us when we are all so exhausted together is when we all get slap happy and have some of our funnest times, but were a little crazy over here so...
Your tease is filling my head with all sorts of possibilities!!!

    Keep up the good work

    1. Oh my! So you know what it's like. We are not moving THAT far away, but still. Moving is moving.
Ah yes, slap happiness. I know what you mean. XD

      Thank you!

  4. I’ve moved a total of 12 times in my life, sometimes just from house to house, and sometimes from state to state, or country to country! The longest ive lived in one house is 3 years, and that was in Germany! So I feel you completely. Moving is everything you said it is, plus bittersweet for me. Any change, no matter how good, always has a twinge of sadness for me. I still haven’t gotten over my favorite house we ever lived in. We didn’t even live in it for 3 full years, and it was in a tiny town in Illinois, but it holds so many memories and its such a charming house! I hope you get much needed and REAL rest and relaxation and very soon!!! Moving furniture, organizing things, and cleaning everything spotless is no joke! Love and sympathy, Abbie C.

Wow; that is a lot of times to move. I do love having a new start, but there comes a time when one can get TIRED of those. -_-
I gotta admit, however; living in Germany sounds really neat.
Aahh charming houses are the best. And you gotta love those tiny Illinois towns. <3
I thank you for the encouragement, dear! Praying for you. :)

  6. ACCURATE. Oh, the memories that came back.
Beautiful reminders; I wish I'd had such a positive outlook during such a depressing time! I wish you the absolute best!!! You can make it through this with triumph and joy! (Though it won't feel like it for a while probably. :/ :D)

Moving is no picnic; but at the same time I'm liking it.
